Sažetak: This paper discusses some interdisciplinary approaches to actions taken by activist group in the local community, in a period of three years, for enhancing human development in areas of communication, culture, education and technology. Project based approach and volunteer efforts in solving detected societal challenges and needs are elaborated. These projects involved: setting up, running and maintaining independent city news-portal; enforcing international humanitarian actions for local children with special needs; establishing cultural and educational festival with fresh thematic and presentation approaches for citizens; and introducing study opportunities to the high school students through Study Fair. Lessons learned are presented with impressions, empirical results and advices for enhancing quality of life in local community. Real life limitations and challenges for sustainability are also discussed.
